A lady takes a boy for a walk

An elegantly dressed lady, holding a chain made of flowering twigs in her right hand, takes a small boy for a walk on her other hand. The boy's attention is directed towards a small toy which he holds on a cord.

Ukiyo-e painting skilfully worked out with ink, colours and gofun on silk.

Signed: Hôkyo (?) Tsukioka Settei and seal Tsukioka...

Artist: Tsukioka Settei (1710-86)

Very nice new silk mounting with horn ends. The silk is a little bit darkened due to its age. Very good condition of the painting. With the wooden box.

Size of the picture: 93,5 x 35,5 cm; size of the scroll: 178 x 48 cm.

Tsukioka Settei (1710-86) was a famous Ukiyo-e artist from Osaka. Compare Lane p 327, Roberts p 144, Boston Museum.
